Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts

I don't think some dogs would successfully wipe out a wild rabbit warren. I know some rabbits have set up a successful warren in the lion paddock at Monarto zoo...

Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts

One handy thing is that there's a lot of on-the-fly translator apps that work for phones. Good for a lot of signs as long as the font isn't too weird or busy.

Pity about the power creep of the newer premiums.

Glad to see you all appear to be happy with your pre-purchases. I'm going to wait for a little bit, the pile of shame is too high at the moment.

So it's kind of like bumping up your tax-free threshold provided you actually spend it on acceptable purchases. Seems fair enough to me for NPOs.

Google has failed me. Didn't know next Monday was a public holiday until somebody told me this morning because I normally just look at what Google has auto-inserted

On the plus side: Woo! Long Weekend!

Some thought that it may also be the BIOS doing a refresh. Next boot go into the BIOS, change something irrelevant like current time, save and exit.

Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts

Haven't had to replace the line on the one I just bought, but I did note that it looks really hard to replace compared to the old one unless you buy one of their pre-wound heads, with a significant mark up of course.

Also the line size they recommend is a weird in-between one that only Ryobi sell.

Did they film the first part of that trailer at the same time as Jumanji?

Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts

LAN cable is handy to avoid WiFi interference making your connection shit, but they should be able to get around that by looking at your line sync speed. Try a different modem is pretty bad though.

Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts

When I did tech support the 2nd worst people were those who thought they knew what they were doing. Unless you already know they are competent, it's best to go through all the tests anyway. Whoever you call doesn't know you, so just run through their script (and actually do whatever provided it's no...

Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts

I'll point out that there are a lot of people who claim they need a new X, when they don't actually know how to use X in the first place. Unfortunately this generally applies to manager level and up and it often works. Anybody further down the chain gets to wait even if they do need it.

From what I've experienced, most downtime is caused by NBNCo, not by the ISP. Slowdowns are generally the ISP.

This was one of our outdoor candles, deciding to make a slow-motion escape out of the holder to the floor.

Upcoming days are 38,42,42 degrees, want to see if it actually drips all the way.

They write them for the people who already don't drink / don't smoke. It's preaching to the converted and makes them feel happy and morally superior that they made the right choice.

On the other side, my FTTH connection is still going really well. Next federal election is mid-2019, so all of those still waiting for your 'by 2016' delivery date may be able to get something better.

I'm particularly fond of Sweet Sixteen cocktails even if they look really girly 2 shots gin juice of 1/2 lime 2 dashes of grenadine sugar syrup to taste (I use none) Shake all that up with ice and pour into a long glass Top with about 1/2 a bottle (125 ml) of Schweppes bitter lemon Garnish with a le...
