I've set myself up here so that the bus is easily the most convenient option for getting to work. Quicker, cheaper, and way less hassle than driving.

Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts

Android is quite simple tbh. Had Android phones for over a decade now and I've never had to do anything complicated on them to get them to work.

Re: What are you watching?

Currently watching Chernobyl, and all I can say is wow. This is an amazing show; so tragic and farcical. It's gut-wrenching to watch.

Yeah. That Liberal ad in Chinese that looked like it's AEC had "authorised by the Liberal party" is definitely not in the spirit of democracy even if it's technically legal.

Re: Game of Thrones (Season 8) - SPOILERS

I know haters gonna hate, but I liked this season much more than seasons 5, 6 or 7. Dialogue was better, action was more epic, and it sought to tell the story in more than just plot points. I think, too, it put into perspective just how difficult it is for GRRM to make all the plot points fit togeth...

Re: Game of Thrones (Season 8) - SPOILERS

I thought The Wire-esque montage was a good way to end the show. And I was happy they put in the scene where Brienne the Beautiful had to write Jaime's time in the Kingsguard - that felt the best possible homage to the books. I also didn't expect the knifing to happen so quickly - I would have felt ...

Re: Federal Election May 18, 2019!

One of the things that baffled me about the campaign against Labor on tax was that Labor was proposing to cut taxes, and they would have been more substantial cuts for more people. Yet instead of campaigning on that, it let the LNP just relentlessly claim Labor was going to tax us out of existence, ...

Re: Game of Thrones (Season 8) - SPOILERS

Since they've gone off book, they have the outline GRRM gave them on where the story goes, so they've been connecting plot points for 2 and a half seasons now. I can't be too harsh on them for that reason. It's Martin's story, not theirs, and Martin is taking forever because of how difficult it has ...

Re: Game of Thrones (Season 8) - SPOILERS

One final note, reading on the internet about how surprised everyone seems to be that Daenerys went super crazy. This was a person who grew up being told Westeros was her family's birthright, and that she would be welcomed with open arms when the Usurper was overthrown. The stark contrast she had s...

Re: Game of Thrones (Season 8) - SPOILERS

Main thing that annoyed me was them changing the prophecy. Damnit, Cersei was meant to be choked to death by her younger brother! Apart from that, I really liked the episode. Arya in the streets trying not to get caught up in the chaos and being otherwise useless was quite refreshing. The destructi...

I suppose you're paying for the convenience of it. Unless there's a Woolworths next door, in which case it's baffling why anyone would use the convenience store.

Re: What are you reading?

I just finished reading How Music Works by David Byrne, which really went into a lot more depth about the music industry than I was expecting. It has inspired me to pick up the guitar again, though, so that's good. Also reading Gastrophysics by Charles Spence. It's all about the science of eating, a...

Re: Game of Thrones (Season 8) - SPOILERS

After all the fuss about dragons, and half an episode of Winterfell banter, the dragon being felled so casually seemed really rushed. If we take this as stemming from GRR's outline, then the stuff in A Feast for Crows about the Dragon-horn has come to fruition.

Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts

I'd imagine the answer is that if you let the users do what they want, some users would break it bad and Apple would have a harder time fixing it. Locking it down is kind of smart for particular kinds of users (the ones with the illusion of competence), though it's frustrating for the rest of us. Ba...
