Re: ports

I hate to be the bringer of bad news but if you currently do not have copper laid in your area then there is little chance Telstra will lay copper in future. It would not make financial sense for Telstra as you'd likely be moved to NBN satellite or fixed wireless in the near future. Increasingly NBN...

Re: Noted piracy group struggling to crack Just Cause 3, complains about piracy’s future

The PS3 was never cracked AFAIK. I find myself buying a lot of games that are on Steam sales I don't play for months/years. I find myself buying more games on STEAM sales that I NEVER play than the ones I do, lol. Most of the games in my Steam library I haven't played yet but I hope to play the maj...

Re: Noted piracy group struggling to crack Just Cause 3, complains about piracy’s future

The PS3 was never cracked AFAIK. The PS3 has been hacked for years, the exploit was patched and only PS3's that ran firmware 3.55 at some point and used specific flash chips can be downgraded and hacked using the exploit on firmware 3.55. I had my PS3 downgraded so I could buy the PS3 Japanese audi...

Re: Noted piracy group struggling to crack Just Cause 3, complains about piracy’s future

While game developers and publishers are within their rights to use DRM but I don't want to support DRM that is using a not insignificant amount of processor and memory to encrypt and decrypt data on-the-fly. I doubt many pirates will buy games regardless and the legitimate user gets an inferior exp...

Re: Is my internet under performing?

You sync rate for upstream is average considering reported upstream attenuation and downstream sync rate is poor considering reported downstream attenuation. Are you on a Westnet on-net plan? If you are on a Westnet on-net plan your line is connected to a DSLAM (hardware at the exchange that your mo...

I have a good 10-12 USB ports coming from 2 different locations on the MB incl 2 that are USB 2 only. Read your manual and/or open up your PC and find out many USB chips are present. Intel generally only offer a few native USB ports on their motherboards, often only USB2.0 on older motherboards wit...

Try changing Channel Width to 20MHz.

Really lacking advanced wireless settings which isn't surprising considering it's an ISP supplied device.

Can you post screen caps of all the wireless configuration pages especially an advanced wireless settings page if p...

I agree with you Mugsy, I am also using a 4.5" and I don't want a screen bigger then 5" as larger is just too big.

Re: S3 and WiFi connection Issue

Android is pretty lacking on wireless settings. What is providing the wireless AP? This is normally a wireless modem/router or wireless router but sometimes a standalone wireless AP. Need the model and hardware revision numbers. For basic troubleshooting you could try: upgrading the wireless modem/r...

Re: What I hate most about the state of AAA gaming

Blizzard and Valve man, only good gaming companies left. They have some hiccups for sure, but it's nothing like the other developers. After experiencing Diablo III my opinion of Blizzard dropped a lot. Diablo is the only Blizzard franchise I had much love for and Diablo III killed that, I've been b...

Re: What I hate most about the state of AAA gaming

It all comes back to voting with your wallet as you have done when it comes to Star Wars Battlefront. I do not own a PS4 or Xbox One and my PC (3570k/GTX670/8GB RAM) is becoming dated, the lousy business practices of publishers has in part has made it easy to pass on the PS4 and Xbox One thus far. And to the details above... I do game via wireless from that modem. To annoying to have cables going around my house, and not looking at cabling anything in to it when we won't be staying longer than another 2 years. Overall gaming has been fine, get the occasional lag spike, but I can't figure out...

What are the sync rates :?: The bandwidth speed :?: 696 / 249 kbps Pretty woeful considering what I used to get... Upstream that low certainly indicates an issue. Re: PS2 emulation finally hits the PS4?

Good point about the patches, that is quite likely in some way. That might even account for the ability to have Trophies in these emulated games (though it sounds like there is some other technology involved in doing that). Sony was granted a patent for that so they obviously had something new and ...

Re: PS2 emulation finally hits the PS4?

Would it be wrong for me to think they will avoid backwards compatibility just so you are forced to buy the old games again as digital products? If I was a betting man I'd bet on that. There's not really any money in it for them to provide backwards compatibility for discs, but through this method ...

Re: EB Games is being taken to a tribunal for the alleged abuse and underpayment of staff / Why Kotaku’s article is impo

It wouldn't surprise me if staff working conditions are poor, it's easier to exploit people when they are younger and/or passionate so young gamers especially if it is their first job are easier to exploit. Other than a launch Xbox 360 and Oblivion I don't recall having bought anything else from EB,...

Re: iiNet Connection Speed Manager

Your downstream sync rate is good for 33dB reported downstream attenuation.

Gamer removes the 1023kbps cap on upstream so you'll likely get higher upstream performance maybe 1.1-1.2Mbps. Downstream will probably drop to 9-11Mbps.

What modem/router are you using?

Telstra customers with DLM enabled have found their sync rates reduced significantly...
