Re: Battletech

Yeah it is. The more I play the more options I've realised I have in fights too. Plus if it's too simple and easy you can always pick harder fights and see how well you can punch above your weight. There's more to it than I thought. If anyone else is playing or plans on playing, here's a great resou...

Re: Battletech

Been playing it some today. It's fine I guess. I'm not sure it has the tactical depth and sufficient mission variety to keep me playing for too long. But for the price, it's a decent enough game.

Armidale is a great place - if that smaller town lifestyle is something that's appealing at any rate.

Didn't you only just get a new job not so long ago Storm? Was that only a short term thing?

Re: Battletech

They did a good job with the Shadowrun games for the budget they had. I'm hoping a lot of the right lessons were learned from those games and they don't leave too much potential just lying on the table.

Re: Avengers: Infinity War

I've avoided every bit of promo material for this so far, apart from the Thanos stuff from the trailer that got meme'd to hell.

The payoff was pretty good doing it for Star Wars Rogue One, not so sure about a Marvel movie. But we'll see.

Re: The Division

Yeah it's a solid game, pretty much what it should have been at launch. I bought it after the updates and overhaul for cheap and put in over 100 hours before I decided I'd had enough. It does get to grindy nonsense eventually, but there's a ton of engaging and entertaining content to go through befo...

Seems like short term gain at the expense of long term success. No sport gets more popular by hiding it behind a paywall.

Not sure if that ring makes you a pimp or a princess. It'd go alright as a brooch though I reckon.

Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts

Went and saw a movie today. I was about 13 minutes late by the time I sat down because I figured I had ages before kick-off like every other movie in recent years. But nope, saw 2-ish trailers and the movie was on. I remained sceptical for quite some time that it was in fact the movie and not anothe...

Wouldn't be at all surprised it the CEO quit because the choicest, easiest portion of the rollout is done and finishing things off while still meeting targets is going to be next to impossible. Sort of "pumped and dumped" the NBN to make himself look good for wherever he goes next. God I'm cynical a...

Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts

I got an email last night about too many attempts to log into my Epic Games account. I forgot I even had one, made it a while back when they gave away Shadow Complex for free. Couldn't for the life of me think of why anyone would want to try and crack that kind of account. And then I remembered Fort...

That really sucks Disco. I was so hopeful that they'd finally gotten co-op to work properly on PC this time round. That was the main reason I was thinking about getting it before it got to the bargain bin. Ubisoft seem to be getting a bit better about game support these days though, so fingers cross...

I'm sure the punishment is completely in line with the rules, but yeah, the ICC might need to review how they address ball tampering. It'd be an interesting problem to look at solving. What sort of proof is required? And what sort of punishments might curb it? It's not like it has to be proper law t...

Re: The Cricket Thing.......

I don't really know what to think. International cricketers do all sorts of shit they aren't really supposed to to gain an advantage, especially when it comes to the ball. Sure this one was a lot more extreme than most and made even worse by how blatant and well documented it is, but the act itself ...

Re: What are you watching?

While I am watching it, I'm finding the second season of Atlanta to be kind of underwhelming. I feel like they're focusing a lot more on cultural stuff this season and for someone ignorant of the specifics of that I'm just not vibing with it.

Got a call this morning about a gov job I applied for last year. The guy they hired had to go on medical leave and they want to interview me this arvo as a potential replacement. I can't even. Since when does anything in the government work that quickly?

Put off watching Wind River for ages because the description for it didn't sound so great. It's turned out to be one of the better movies I've seen in a while.

Suits is pretty great, I enjoyed it for quite a while. Just be warned that it gradually stops being about law and cases and instead becomes almost solely focused on office-place drama. As soon as you get tired of that side of it it's probably best to let it go - I stuck it out for 5 seasons before I...

Which Kindle did you get? I've got a shitload of PDFs to read through, been thinking about buying one to make things a little easier on my eyes. Plus then I'd have a Kindle at the end too.
