Re: SNES mini thread

Is that using the 'Extra space' module, or just the latest default build? I'm still on Hakchi version C, haven't really felt the need to update yet as I seem to have a good ~150mb free currently over about 65 games. I've generally gone in and launched most of these either to or past the title screen...

Re: SNES mini thread

Been dabbling in some games from other platforms a bit. Got some classics I remember on the sega master system from back in the day, and I never actually owned an original Nintendo or Sega Megadrive - been scouring some top game lists from their respective lineups. I spent like, pretty much the whol...

Yeah I was going to do a genre thing, getting inspired by these custom folder icons that I'm seeing on the subreddit :)

Re: SNES mini thread

It's getting to the point where the big one line list of games is getting impractical, and I'll need to start using folders. I guess I'll find out tonight after work, but do you know off the top of your head if the original 21 games can be put into folder structures by default, or will I need to do ...

Re: SNES mini thread

Yeah, not to get all 'PC MASTER RACE' or anything considering the age and platform of what we're talking about here when put in perspective, but even so the framerate on Starfox is sooooo bad and just not enjoyable at all for me to play. Didn't at all remember it playing like that in the day. Haven'...

Re: SNES mini thread

Hmm, was randomly browsing the EB games site due to their 'Manager clearence sale' thingies and stumbled across another alternative. If you're just after a wireless snes controller (And not something with thumbsticks or to be used on other devices) then this seems like a cost effective one. https://...

Re: SNES mini thread

Damn.. that's purrty. As close as the console is to my couch and even though I do have that extender coming from aliexpress, these wires everywhere do get in the way sometimes, and it would be nice to just have a proper wireless option. 70+ bucks though is something of a turnoff, will definitely kee...

Re: SNES mini thread

I've been pursuing people's 'must have' games lists on various forums/discussions, and grabbing things that I had never even heard of or games that I never actually got around to playing in the day. (Got a loooong Jrpg backlog now.. :S) The Snes was actually my last ever console/game system from Nin...

Re: SNES mini thread

2.21d Minor update, nothing special. Altered free space calculation. Minor fixes for mods, "extra_space" mod is more safe now. "Turbo A/B" hack working correctly now. Scripts autoupdate, so you don't need to reflash custrom kernel after every update. Updated translations. Force NTSC patching for SNE...

Re: SNES mini thread

So am I just completely out of the loop on the word 'Bezel'? =( Was waiting far too long in that vid for an explanation of what he was even talking about or what this was modding, until It finally became obvious it was for the background borders. ;) Never heard the word before, TIL I guess. Heh. I t...

Re: SNES mini thread

2.21c is out. Decided to give it a whirl. Because I originally downloaded the zip version rather than the web installer, there was no automatic way to update. Had to redo basically from the start (unless I missed something obvious) Anyway yeah after rejigging the kernel and putting retroarch on, I r...

Re: SNES mini thread

EDIT: Well that's incredibly easy to do. Done in about 5~15 minutes. Had to try two different rom versions of Chrono Trigger because the first one was giving me a black screen after the title, this might be something of a hurdle and require a bit of trial and error going forward, but overall this i...

Re: SNES mini thread

Been having a lot of fun getting into the customization and modding of this, and have been perusing the relevant Snes modding subreddits etc. (Not to mention chatting with Mugsy here, though for the sake of transparency and for others seeking information we should probably use the thread for its int...

Re: SNES mini thread

I don't know anything about hacking these, but I've been seeing more updated news articles (From under 12hrs ago) stating that it's already been hacked fine and it works with a whole bunch of roms and games. Might give it a go sometime tonight, was just about to buy a wii controller also but if I fi...

Re: SNES mini thread

Cheers for that :D

Hmm, might go and order a wii controller now also. Even though the console is near me on the couch I would prefer it thumbs length away, (I'm a notorious save scummer..) plus this will let me sit elsewhere combined with the aliexpress cable extender I ordered the other day.

Re: Grim Dawn expansion Ashes of Malmouth coming in October

I thought it was too much like Diablo for my tastes. Like, the original appeal of the Kickstarter was that it wasn't a fantasy thing, but rather a post apocalyptic modern/near future setting, except everything still just feels like a fantasy setting with swords and melee weapons and the hamlets and ...

Re: SNES mini thread

Think I only ever played Illusion of Gaia once, I always thought it was kind of niche though and not that big of a deal. Can't actually remember much about it apart from some of the intro on a raft or something. Terrinigma is a long time fav, no other game (or any piece of media at all that I can th...

Re: SNES mini thread

Hail, and well met! I think I know why I like this thing compared to just having an emulator and roms on my tablet; I've never actually played a bunch of the things here, and I'm now more compelled to try them out. Whenever I boot up the 'ol zSnes or Psx emulators I typically just go for or download...

Re: Show Us Your Latest Purchase - October 2017

This seems like a good price for those SNES cable things: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/333187 Heh, yep saw that yesterday. I went ahead and got one. Also not to derail this too much into a Snes classic thread, but I was sort of googling and reading up on some of the features and apparently you...

Re: Show Us Your Latest Purchase - October 2017

The EB guy tried to upsell me on those things also. Thankfully I had already preplanned how mine was going to be setup. Got a 5 metre HDMI cable for about 8 bucks at Kmart and ran that invisibly under/around furniture and rugs to the telly, and got the Snes itself sitting on my coffee table's unders...

Re: Mellie's Random Game Discussion Thread

So I started playing a few old games on the SNES today - I'm surprised at the difficulty level of these games. Maybe I'm 20 years out of practice. Seriously, going back to a platformer like Mario or DK was shameful on my end also. Dunno how the hell I played these things through back in the day wit...
