Agreed with Disco, first movie is really good. Which is why I'm a bit hesitant about a sequel - no way could it live up to the first one. Though the trailer looked promising.

Sicario has become one of my favourite movies of all time.. have watched it 4 times now and this will trigger a 5th screening.

That trailer looks very promising... although you'd have to be asleep or near brain-dead to not be able to put 'everyone' in Brolin's mouth before he said it. Love his character.

Thought I'd catch up with watching the first one (on xmas night of all nights) and it did not disappoint.

I quite liked the use of the aerial imagery to create a sense of what these people were getting themselves into. Should have known that Denis Villeneuve was the director seeing how he used the same sort of shots in Blade Runner 2049. He's not directing the sequel though so we'll see if this affects Soldado. Same writer though.

Sequel's got a name change. The trailer below probably reveals a bit too much IMHO so don't watch if you wanna preserve the experience and just trust in the fact that it looks good.

Very much enjoyed this sequel. Can't wait for the third one that is being planned.

There first one is the better film for sure and I think it has a lot to do with the director, cinematographer, the fact that you were taken on this ride from Emily Blunt's point of view (very much a fish out of water) and Del Toro was such an enigma.

I wasn't expecting this sequel to recapture that... but I like both Del Toro's and Brolin's characters that a sequel with just them is fine for me. I see it like what Lost World was to Jurassic Park but a lot better in this case.
And as ridiculous as surviving being shot through the head is, the angle it occurred at looked plausible and IMHO makes his character even more of a badarse
