I agree that the absolute best Who episodes are generally the standalone ones be it The Empty Child, Blink or Forest of the Dead (all written by Moffat I know... but they are generally regarded as some of the best episodes and favourites of mine). The ones in S11 just feel quite bland in general. The episode 'It takes you away' faired the best for me... it was the one episode that managed to establish a decent mystery, sufficient tension and some sort of character/relationship development.

Most of the other episodes played it too safe, cliched and predictable.

I get the feeling that they chose to avoid anything from classic Who because they just haven't done their homework and are afraid of producing something that contradicts the lore.
Did they not know that planets shrunk into stasis chambers had been done before? :S

I'm still digesting the series, might binge it over the weekend and post something on Monday... one way to avoid mowing the lawn :)

sad that the ABC has dumped the Dr but I did discover that Jodie was not the first female Dr Who...

just from Ivu; they showed the first series in May and have done nought since. kinda of sad I thought they were going to do a full rerun but nothing... hoping they will do something before the next new series with Jodie.

There's no xmas or new year's eve special this year but the next season is tipped to start on New Years Day. It's a 2 parter and episode 2 airs a few days later on Saturday 4th Jan with following episodes airing each Saturday. New trailer below...

I don't get too much of the politically correct, SJW pandering vibe of Series 11 which is a good thing... just get back to great stories and adventures!

The good thing about that is that Saturday airings on the BBC means back to Sunday evenings on the ABC.

So I'm 11 minutes into the new episode and am bored already. Might be time I move on from the Doctor for a while... it's been a good 10yrs or so but the current episodes just don't do it for me.

I spent most of the episode wondering if anything that hasn't been done many times before was going to happen.
Not a good start to the season.

the first five minutes explains the last five minutes; watch it again and again; the middle bit is rubbish but if you focus on the start and the end you see where episode two will end and probably why the whovians are staring on episode two... :)
