Watched Downsizing. That movie takes a super weird turn. I don't know why they did that.
yeah I know right?

And in the end you almost feel like the whole downsizing aspect was a waste of time.
So true to real life...

Today I saw The Death of Stalin. Funny and playful with just enough cynicism to hold it all together. Left the theatre with a sense of foreboding about Putin.

I ended up watching Monsters: Dark Continent on Netflix (which I have just now read is a sequel). It's actually a pretty solid, gritty war-movie but felt like the monsters were more of an after-thought. The presence of the monsters didn't really have much of an impact on the story as the military team seem to be more focussed on battling insurgent forces and this is were most of the tension in the movie lies.

The movie didn't receive great reviews, generally, but I think it's worth a look.

I couldn't finish it when it took the turn... went from a what I thought was going to be a comedy to a documentary sort of thing and was just boring as shit.

The first one was really good, sequel was unrelated trash IMO. They pretty much just used the name to sell another movie.

Loved the first movie. Done really well and I bought their relationship. Second I haven't seen.

Dont bother ,as @Nekosan says it's unrelated garbage! ,loved the first one and was hanging out for 2 for a continuation of the whole alien thing, and it just turned into a soldiers try to survive in a war type story with a bunch of unlikeable idiots who you dont care if they live or die and the aliens are just shoved in from time to time with no real purpose!

Big ironing job this weekend which means an opportunity to catch up on TV and movies. Caught up on Harrow and also watched Molly's Game and The Commuter. Quite enjoyed all of that.

This season of Homeland has been great, a few bits that have seemed unrealistic but great none-the-less. There has been at least 2 "Fring go boom" moments in this season where the episode ends in such a dramatic moment that I've just been left a bit stunned at the end.

13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi has just hit Netflix... a Michael Bay flick with John Krasinski (of the US 'The Office' and Emily Blunt's husband).

Really good, very much a modern Blackhawk Down (they even reference BHD in the dialogue). Combat scenes are superb.

Krasinski is good... excellent in the last minute when he calls his wife to say he's coming home. Dude has a bright future on the big screen.

And behind the camera too the way A Quiet Place is going.

I really should try watching 13 Hours again... started watching it a while back but just wasn't focused and lost interest.

Over the past month I've caught up on a whole bunch of flicks I've been meaning to watch: Molly's Game, The Commuter, Murder on the Orient Express, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri... all really great flicks for what they are (yes, even The Commuter... but you gotta be in the mood for something far fetched).

And there's something really sexy about the way Chastain plays Molly Bloom... sure, she's super hot in those dresses but the level of intellect in how calculated her character is did it for me. She uses spreadsheets too  Minus the emotional damage and poor decision making at key parts of her life and I think she would have really gotten somewhere and stayed there.

I'd say that I've seen The Greatest Showman but I've only listened to it... had it running whilst cooking dinner. Didn't watch it one bit and they seem to jump from song to song with only a minute's dialogue in between.

Started watching Atomic Blonde too. Need to finish that.

Just watched The Greatest Showman recently. Have to say, and nearly embarrassed to say - I quite enjoyed it.

That's only because it's a stage musical, or done in such a way anyway.

Finished watching Atomic Blonde... quite enjoyed it. Didn't know that half the people who worked on John Wick worked on this one too... no wonder the action was so brutal.

Also caught up on Harrow.

Homeland finale spoilers
Good end to a great season, but oh man what a horrible ending :( Clare Danes' acting is amazing, she looked totally wild and crazed in that final scene

Ohhh that explains a lot. I liked Atomic Blonde as well and have been comparing it more to John Wick than for example Bond movies. As for what I'm currently watching, Westworld season 2 just started so I'll be all over that as soon as 3-4 episodes air so I can binge watch it.

Yeah, with the two directors of the first John Wick, one went on to do the sequel and the other went to do Atomic Blonde. The crew basically split up as well.

Oh the Ash vs Evil Dead finale was epic :D Sad the show is ending, was a very funny and gory ride :)

Although a bit hidden for spoilers
The ending/epilogue was great, reminded me a bit of the Evil Dead 2 alternate ending epilogue. If it is setting up for a post-apocalyptic set Evil Dead 4 movie I am so in

Am halfway through Smallville at the moment. Was trying to get it all watched before Allison Mack got arrested for leading a sex cult. Too late. *sad trombone*

It's a Keanu sequel... I can't think of one that's turned out as good as the first which is a shame as when the man does a good movie, it's a damn good movie.

Watched Black Panther to get up to speed before I went and saw Avengers, found it pretty underwhelming. Like I have for quite a few of their movies recently, apart from the last Thor one.

I don't know. It's really reduced my enthusiasm to go and see another Marvel movie now. I think I might even make Avengers my last one.
