No, you leave shit everywhere... but if I'm really off my rocker, you understand that the putting away of things and reduction of visual clutter can often help bring some sense of calm. I do need to address the fridge this evening though, I'm not coping with that situation at all.

Ultrasound picked up on two gallstones in me. Liver also a bit fatty. The girlfriend is going to be pleased.

In saying that, fertility apparently goes up with a 5kg weight loss and she wants me to put one in the oven for her so I think she'll help implement the dietary changes.

At the risk of making people feel awkward, as someone who has spent an awful lot of money and 5+ years fighting infertility in the attempt to start a family, could I respectfully ask that the topic of "putting one in the oven" not be discussed quite so flippantly?

I can respect that request Cherry.

I was looking for my copy of Kindergarten Cop on DVD earlier which brought back memories of me buying my first dvd movie. Told the significant other that it felt like yesterday that I bought my first dvd. And now dvds are out of date. She said I sounded like a sad old man... And asked if she could make me feel younger by going on a maccas run together after midnight. That's gonna be a running joke for us methinks.

I think the first DVD's I had were for a birthday gift with a DVD player, which was pretty great at the time.. think I got Gladiator, Payback, Gone in Sixty Seconds and something else maybe. Now I don't even OWN any DVD's or CD's.

Good choice!

Mine was Dark City, followed by The Wedding Singer. I think The Matrix was my 3rd DVD.

I had Gladiator and Gone in 60 Seconds too. Gladiator was one of the first 6 DVDs I got. My copy of Gone in 60 Seconds had an error on the disc... had playback issues which was annoying.

The girlfriend and I mainly lazed around today (public holiday in Brissie) though we managed to move around some furniture and we set up the TV and nvidia shield. I'm loving FTTP 50/20 NBN! So much bandwidth for two people and updates are so fast.

I must say, it's a pretty pants-shitting experience when you're accelerating on the highway and the car tries to shift gears, only to instead emanate a loud THUNK that rocks the whole car and suddenly it will not shift either up or down. 0/10. She's in a shop now - I haven't covered transmission or electrical stuff (electrical is involved for automatic transmission) in my school yet so it's out of my ability range :(

My uncle had a similar experience. Car accellerated on it's own. Had to slam on the handbrakes. Luckily no one was injured.

Hope you're feeling better after your ordeal.

On the topic of road travel, accident on the busway this morning. Had to detour through suburbia. Amazingly I'm not as late as I thought I would be.

Well, in good news, it seems she's not down for major transmission repair/replacement - after cooling down she worked fine... Check Engine revealed a code for a faulty shift timing solenoid. Given that it was an exceptionally hot day (open highway in Arizona) and I had done a LOT of driving, I think there was just too much heat, and solenoids are notorious for getting a little weird when there's too much heat.
So... not exactly "of no concern", but still, yay!

In other news... I'm trying to get back into the habit of drawing every day, even if it's just a little bit or an unsuccessful drawing. I've gotten to the point where I draw maybe once a month, and that's just not good - I've noticed my mood being affected because I have no outlet, just working and doing other people's stuff all the time. So back to drawing and gaming I shall go!

You don't realize how much sugar and sodium is in freaking everything until you're actively trying to cut back. I don't know how prevalent this is in Aus, but here in the states there is literally sugar and salt added to everything; I've read posts from folks of other countries saying that our bread is sickeningly sweet due to how much sugar is added to it.

Still gonna keep at it, especially knowing it will be much better in the long run! But during these first few months of adjusting my diet, I'm craving fast food and frozen junk food like mad. I still have stuff like that now and then, but not nearly at the level I was at before - once per week at most, instead of nearly every day. Way too much for anyone, let alone my tiny little self since I eat such a disproportionate amount of food for my size, whether it's healthy or not. (I think my stomach might actually be just a black hole, not an organ)

If you're mostly eating for wellness as opposed to weight loss, then you want to focus more on fresh, whole foods that are nutritious. Avoid using "light" or "low fat" alternatives as they are often packed with sugar to make them taste better (particularly dairy products). I wouldn't avoid bread completely unless you have a reason to, but I'd try and avoid having too much of it and try to look for something with a bit more nutrition than plain white bread. Keep things simple, it's easier to stick to - try and avoid pre-packaged foods where you can and just go for fresh, healthy and nutritious.

If you do have time to cook, an omelette or two eggs and some short cut bacon is a high protein start to the day. If you don't have time to cook breakfast, a good quality protein shake followed by a piece of fruit is a decent alternative. Lunch, Disco tends to do things like tuna salads and soups whilst I usually take a ham, turkey & salad wrap or leftovers. Dinner varies but is usually home cooked, is usually 500cal or less and includes a mixture of protein, fats (ie: olive oil) and veg.

Oh yeah, definitely following all those kinds of steps. Also, my weakness is bread and pasta, but I've been choosing whole grain varieties instead as it's a little less loaded than white varieties.
What sucks right now is that I don't have a freezer! Being able to freeze stuff would make this a lot easier, whether it's raw ingredients (i.e. stashing some chicken to be stirfried or baked on a whim) or batches of leftovers. Still making it work though, I think this is the most fresh stuff I've ever eaten continuously in my life.

Maybe you could try making your own bread? It takes a bit of time with the kneading, but you can do other things while its proving or baking. And you get to decide what goes in it.

I'm currently using a tracking app to record what I'm eating and what is in it. Apparently I'm not getting enough sodium or potassium, but I think the database it uses is full of faulty entries for various nutrients. Doesn't really help much.

Yeah, I always cross check with the actual product that the app is correct - we use LoseIt and find it pretty decent.

I've thought about this, especially since I'd like to be able to do stuff like put cranberries and crunchy goodies in it (walnuts and sunflower seeds are always faves) - and also jalapeno cheddar bread. Currently just getting the kitchen reorganized so there's actually room to do anything :D

That's going to be no different to making your own icecream, its amazing till you realize you're going to spend 4x as much on ingredients.

I'm tempted to try Keto ice cream, it seems pretty straight forward and doesn't require an ice cream maker apparently

Ingredients
2 cups full fat cream
1 tablespoon vanilla paste
5 egg yolks
1/3 cup Powdered Sweetener
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoon vodka

I'm not sure why it's got vodka in it, maybe to stop it solidifying?

Yeah, I'd say its there to lower the freezing point of the solution. Sugar normally does it, so you'd need a replacement.
