What games are you looking forward to in 2018?

Post by Disco » 28 Dec 2017, 09:52

It just occurred to me this morning that other than Far Cry 5 I had no idea about any games coming out next year.. although a quick look makes it seem like there might be some heavy hitters on the way.

What are you looking forward to?

BattleTech by Harebrained Schemes should be worth a look. But yeah, I'm a bit like you. Far Cry 5 was the first game that came to mind when I read the title.

I'll keep hoping that Cyberpunk 2077 is a 2018 game but it doesn't look likely.

We Happy Few is what I'm most looking forward to, but really I'm looking forward to playing a few games from the Pile Of Shame.

Cyberpunk would be nice. Other than that I’m not too fussed at the moment

At the moment, the game of life is all I'm thinking about... between body fee increases and my loans reverting back to a P&I loan from Interest Only, I need to be making a shit tonne more money per month to pay for it all.

But I'm looking forward to the next Diablo 3 content release... for me, it's the game that keeps on giving. Should probably get back to my pile of shame as well.

Sea of Thieves! I want to go on stupid pirate adventures. Skull & Bones if it's a 2018 title too.

Crackdown 3 would be good but I'm half expecting that to be cancelled at some point. Don't know how much longer Microsoft will want to delay it if they can't work out the problems.

Frostpunk looks like it will be good. Ancient Cities should be good as well, but while they don't have a date mentioned for release, I'm most looking forward to Evil Genius 2.

Hadn't heard of Sea Of Thieves before this. Looks like the Darkzone from The Division, but with ships and pirates. That might go alright.

Also had no idea there was going to be an Evil Genius 2. I know Elixir Studios were working on it back in the day before they shut down. I wonder if any of their design work got carried across to whatever Rebellion is doing.

This thread's been pretty great for me so far :D

FarCry 5 is one I'll be getting on launch, looks really good and sea of thieves which should be fun; we happy few and a few others will be for sales time.

Far Cry 5 is that co-op one where you fight that cult right?

Might scratch that Ghost Recon Wildlands itch now that game is pretty dead.

For me at least, the upcoming games do feel kinda bleh compared to many of the games I've acquired but still haven't played as yet.

But then I'm also at a point where I'm happy run a different class each season in Diablo 3 and that will keep me occupied with my gaming needs. If they add in another class, that'll take me a full 2yrs to cycle through all the classes before starting over again.

Hell, I haven't even ran a single HOTS game in the past few months and that was a daily thing for me for over a year.

I had to read this to remind myself what was coming out...

https://www.polygon.com/features/2017/1 ... es-of-2018

Anthem, A Way Out, Far Cry 5, Jurassic World Evolution, RDR2, Sea of Thieves, System Shock and Vampyr sound interesting. But Cyberpunk would be at the top of that list :)

Oh yes, Anthem, but I suspect it's not a 2018 game. :(

Pile Of Shame is my shorthand for games that I really want to play but haven't had the time to get invested in them. I exclude all those extra keys that I've gotten from various bundles in that list. Those are just hording :P

Looking over games coming this year I'm not that excited about much.... The ones below are the only one currently on my radar
  • Monster Hunter World
  • Anthem
  • And now Cyberpunk, but more as a passing interest
  • And there was an RPG with an Indie booth at PAX that was about music genres instead of good/evil alignment, but I can't remember its name :(

Is Cyberpunk actually coming out this year, or is it a DNF type hope?

Cyberpunk won't be out until 2019/20

For me it would be a surprise game from Valve, Metro Exodus, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, the System Shock 1 remake, and Age of Empires: Definitive Edition should be interesting.

I was looking forward to FC5, but I feel like they've stepped back on the crazy cult nazi stuff and that's a shame.

Remembered another thing! Assuming it comes out this year, Days Gone for PS4 looks cool. Sam Witwer (Star Wars Force Unleashed's Starkiller and Clone Wars/Rebels Darth Maul) playing Motorcycle Man versus zombie hordes.

2018 is looking pretty good if even half this stuff makes it out. :)
