e3 Conversations

Post by Mini » 10 Jun 2018, 08:49

As e3 has now kicked off with the EA presentation, I thought a thread to talk about what we liked would be a good start.

And so to kick it off, here are my thoughts on the EA presentation

BF:V...
  • will have BR, but not sure if that is a launch feature or future release, they were a bit vague on this.
  • No loot boxes or premium pass (Both good things)
Anthem
  • It looks like Destiny
  • The suits are called javelins, and are not you, they are just suits.
  • Not an MMO or a SP game
New Star Wars game coming...Jedi: Fallen Order
Very little info given, will wait and hope

SW: BF2
  • New ewok mode incoming
  • Clone Wars era people and fights are incoming, including Anakin, Obi Wan, Grievous, and Dooku
Couple of indie titles Unravel Two and Sea of Solitude
Not my type of game, so I skimmed through this part.
Apparently Unravel Two is available through the Origin client now though and is a 2 player co-op game

C&C: Rivals
Oooo awesome C&C...
Oh FUCK OFF, a mobile game... for fucks sake!

LOL, that was my reaction too. Don't you just love the fanfare these two contestants got when they came out on stage?

It's basically a MOBA for the phone... didn't they learn from C&C4? Don't turn an RTS franchise into a MOBA... they're not the same genre and the players won't accept it!

https://www.playerattack.com/news/2018/ ... t-e3-2018/ news post with all the Bethesda things!

Keen to muck around in Fallout 76, just hope they've got servers over here. Can't see myself playing it with too much lag. Pretty hilarious that they've put nukes on the map and will let people set them off if they want. Going to be so many explosions!

Fallout 76 looked more grim than I thought it would... and then I realised I was watching the Rage 2 trailer

I still haven't played the new Doom since the whole hell taking over outer space research station has been done to death but Hell on Earth is something I want to revisit!

Rage 2 also looks brilliant. Needs co-op... seriously! Would be a shame to not be able to share the open world.

Like the look of Fallout 76 but I'm not sure the gameplay is right for me. Will need to see more.

Not sure what to make of Cyberpunk just yet... I was expecting a darker, duller game world like Blade Runner.

The comments section of that vid ain't been so kind either.

It was a pretty pathetic move to be releasing such a vid during E3. And yeah, they really should be at E3. Would mean that they have enough new content coming out to justify being at other game conventions besides their own.

Me just wants another xpac for Diablo 3. Really, they don't need to add too many more mechanics at this point... new Act, 2 new classes (a Str and Dex based one with one being shape shifting focused), make the bloody stash large enough so we have 10 tabs for general storage and then 5 tabs per class, make GR keys store like gold and blood shards (I'm sick of them taking up space), and a tonne of new items.

But back on topic...

I've yet to play through the first one. Should probably do that sometime. The sequel seems to set a pretty interesting premise though...

Sony presentation was an absolute mess. Think they only showed two games on their actual stage? Maybe 3. Most of the presentations have been done at a desk where the microphone on one guy was bad at first, then getting crosstalk from venue people radio.

Spider-Man looks absolutely amazing though. Much webslinging fun to be had!

I'm going to link back to Mythor's PA article on the PC Gamers presentation.
https://www.playerattack.com/news/2018/ ... 018-recap/

My highlights from it though.
  • Satisfactory - looks amazingly fun. Will be looking forward to losing lots of time automating everything
  • Maneater - because who doesn't want an ARPG where you are a shark eating people?
  • Two Point Hospital - Theme hospital was good fun years ago, hopefully this recreates that magic
  • Hitman 2 - which reminds me that I might attempt to complete the first one again..
Ubisoft

Trials Rising
This looks like a frustratingly annoyingly fun game... Can see much fun had on the Switch version

Skull & Bones
This looks amazing, and what I wanted from Sea of Thieves, should make for some interesting pirating... if it doesn't have the Ubisoft bugs

Has other stuff, but nothing I cared for that much...
