Show Us Your Latest Purchase - October 2018

Post by CherryRed » 01 Oct 2018, 22:21

Booked Disco and I a balcony room on the Pacific Explorer for a cruise in April, my cousin Nat & her hubby Brad are coming too. Also trying to convince Nekosan to take a well deserved break from the daily grind and join us seeing as he seems like part of our extended family these days, but I think the idea of seeing me in my togs is just too scary for him.

Didn't book a holiday myself but I got something designed to get me there...

Here's the deal if anyone is interested:

https://www.anz.com.au/promo/personal/c ... ode_1=EAFJ

80k velocity points plus a return domestic flight with two virgin lounge passes for $225 is pretty good.

And no, my name is not Jenna Butler.

Hopefully the Gorilla squares are better than the Scotch ones I bought ages ago. Pretty disappointed.

I can't imagine life without one TBH.

I've been using reward credit cards since the start of this decade and can't believe the amount of points I've accrued during this time. Most of this time the cards have been nil annual fee. I've only ever had one with an annual fee but it came with 110k bonus points and a return domestic flight. This ANZ one doesn't have as many points but the annual feel is also a lot less. One of these days I'll need to use em for a decent trip.

Llama keyring... because I loved Llama's long before Fortnite made them trendy, aaaaaaaaaaaaand I keep taking the wrong set of keys with me of a morning which pisses Disco off. So having something distinctive to tell them apart might help.

Randomly selected, but added a note asking for the white or green as a preference.

Well I got tired of fixing all the bits that I put up...
So I am going to tear down all the acoustic foam that's not securely in place.

Image
In case the idea I have does not work, some T-Pins which I'm sure will keep everything in place.

I bought wine... I can't drink it at the moment, but I really want to. I had it at a local bar recently, it's a local wine but they don't have a Cellar Door so I messaged them and asked where I can buy it from for a more reasonable price (the bar charges around $35/bottle and I know it's not worth that) so they gave me a 20% off code to purchase direct from them so I ordered half dozen bottles.

For those who like their wines, it's an easy drinking summer wine with lifted ripe strawberry and cherry notes with a crisp acidity. Very light and fresh, not too much sweetness. With the discount code it was less than $14.50/bottle delivered.

If anyone's needing/wanting wine, the code 'FIRST20' will get you 20% off the entire range (but you have to order in lots of 6) on http://cumuluswines.com.au/

Backed the latest version of the WingLights on Kickstarter.

I don't ride at dusk if I can help it, but with these (and some other lights...) I could!
Still 13 hours to go if other cyclists want them, not cheap though - https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/14 ... with-a-sin

It's not, motorists aren't trained to see you indicate like that so they dont look for it and don't obey it.

The key to safe cycling is to be where motorists expect you to be and to break the rules in individual situations if it keeps you safer.

If it's at night any extra illumination has to help though. I'd probably still stick my hand out, out of habit.
Blinking isn't as good as a moving light for being noticed apparently, but being able to take them on and off as needed was what sold me. Can just stuff them in a pocket or bag. :)

I spent about $1 printing 2 pages at a library.
I won my tribunal case at MWave (woohoo). Didn't manage to go to the store, so I kinda wasted $1 as I could have printed it at home.
Oh well.

For those interested, they claimed I damaged the Blue Yeti Microphone, attempted to repair it and failed, or submitted an older one to get repaired.
All of which is false (and now is proven false). They also attempted to pass off one of my pictures as their own.
Tribunal member saw through their bullshit and has ordered them to refund me in full. They also never attended the hearing, I was a bit sad about that.
I will never shop at Mwave ever again - first and last purchase.

STICK TO YOUR DAMN GUNS IF PEOPLE REFUSE TO HONOUR YOUR CONSUMER RIGHTS.
You really ought to fight them to your fullest extent. If enough people don't care, it will be more common.

Honestly, my time ends up being worth more than the issue in a lot of cases, but I'm glad you won
