Tonight, for example, we pulled out a shiraz we put away 8 years ago. It's aged quite nicely in that time.

I've always been confused by the concept of "aging", once the wine is in a bottle it's not doing anything other than settling if you dont rotate the bottles correctly. How exactly does it "age" with no outside stimulus at all? A bottle of something that was shit in 2019 will still be shit in 2029, it will just be a 10 year old shit vintage no?

Edit: having just had a bit of a read on wikipedia it all sounds like yuppie bullshit to me.

Oh, and I gave her reassurance that nothing was going to go up her you know what (despite my busy hands probably going around that area). That got me in the good books.
So, I'm trying to envisage how this works but it's not quite coming together for me... you met her nine days ago, you decided to be boyfriend & girlfriend this weekend and somehow in amongst this you were like "by the way, you're safe, I'm not gonna put my dick up your arse"?

I just couldn't be fucked with it all... there's so many affordable wines, drinkable and enjoyable straight off the shelf and if you want some special vintage often you can just pay a little extra and buy it already aged. It's a whole lot of time and effort that I couldn't be bothered to invest.

It depends on the wine, really. Some wines are made to be drank young, and ageing isn't going to do anything good for them (does the opposite), and shit wine won't necessarily improve with age either.

So it's got to be the right kinds of wines - usually wines that are high in tannins or acid benefit as they mellow over time - so the harsher aspects of the wine if drank young would disappear. Also, aged wines can take on different flavour profiles that won't be present when the wine is young.

But it all depends on the wine really. And it's really not much effort beyond choosing wines in a store anyway. Most of the time, it's buy the bottle then leave it alone for a while. :P

Well, the first time between two people can be a bit awkward. I just wanted to relax her and... somehow that ended up being what I said and it worked.

Relationships are strange things aren't they?

She's locked to a basement wall isn't she? or made of plastic?

I cannot in my wildest dreams imagine a situation where that comes out of my mouth and it relaxes the girl.

You might as well have just told her out of nowhere when she walks through the door that she "doesnt have to be afraid" because "you arent going to rape and murder her after drugging her wine".

LOL.

I'm actually scared I'll be the one tied up in a basement... she's quite assertive and it feels like she'll overpower me if she really wants to.

Clearly that ongoing joke we have here is on my mind more than it should be. I think most girls wouldn't have reacted as well as she did but then she and I prefer to be open and upfront about things. Plus you wouldn't expect me to date someone who wasn't as odd as I am.

I finally get to add something to this thread - not a beast but a huge upgrade for me: Ryzen 5 2600 RX 580 8GB 120GB SSD 8GB DDR4 Gaming PC

Chucked in another SDD and I'm loving it - been playing FC5 and started The Division 2 and works great.

Case is a bit crap but I got the whole thing for a great price.

I love Ryzen chips, I have the 1600X and it out performs everything else in my PC.
I'm actually looking at a GPU upgrade sometime since I am running an RX480 4GB. But I don't play enough high intensity games to warrant it at the moment.

Nice upgrade all the same!

What the hell kind of hike are you doing that you need sticks, and you only bought them the day before?

You're murdering your Mrs aren't you. I'm onto you.

I usually put more than I should in my backpack and I was afraid the track would be a bit muddy too. with my tight calves I figured something to lean on from time to time would be good.

Definitely not murdering the Mrs. She's putting out more than I deserve.

We've finished getting her up to speed with the key MCU flicks leading up to Endgame. Didn't find the energy to go see it today so I'm thinking of getting this package for two to Gold Class (since I have an $80 GC voucher already). The lady wants a cocktail so I'll need to buy that separately.
Our best value deal for this 3-hour epic finale. Package includes 2 x Gold Class tickets. Enjoy Vietnamese Spring Rolls, 2 classic cheeseburgers & 2 southern fried chicken sliders; with crinkle cut fries & finish with a Marvellous Sundae to share. Plus, your choice of 2 beverages, either a 150 Lashes Pale Ale, a glass of house wine, Frozen Coca-Cola or a soft drink.

Fur children needed something warmer for when we're at work and they're restricted to the unheated laundry/outside areas.

Bought Smokey BBQ Angus and Triple Cheese Burger meals from Hungry Jacks for the girlfriend and I after seeing Endgame and we got Whopper and Single Cheesburger meals instead. They even forgot the BBQ dipping sauce for my nuggets. Absolutely useless! Fucked up not one but two meals!

Also got ripped off buying a Chocolate Cornetto from a convenience store the other week. I bought one at Woolies today for the $2 RRP and the convenience store charged me $5. I suppose the upside is that I'm not going to buy ice cream from them and will save myself some money. Woolworths can get my hard earned cash from now on.

How did she like her discount anniversary flower pack?

Must be almost time for you to share a loved up photo of the happy couple, Mugsy?

The husband and I have shared plenty

I suppose you're paying for the convenience of it. Unless there's a Woolworths next door, in which case it's baffling why anyone would use the convenience store.

I think it came after she left work... I hinted at a delivery in an sms but she didn't say much about it. I'm hoping it's there for her tomorrow.

There's another convenience store just outside my building that does the Cornettos for $2 still. I just happen to be on my way back to the office so I went to this other one as it meant I got the ice cream earlier... but I'd be happy to wait if it meant I can get two for a lower cost back at the office.
