The Murrpau chronicles (an RP thread)

Rebirth

Sneaking, sensing, eyes wide in the dark, she moved quickly. Cast down by her brethren for falling in love with a drow male, she now ran to him, twisting and turning in the caverns of the Underdark.

As she ran deeper things started to appear down side passages, things with glowing eyes. Eyes that seemed to beam with hunger. Suddenly everything was unfamiliar, this was not the way she had come before...

As she rounded the next bend it hit her, the overpowering smell of decay and disease seeping down the corridor. She halted weighing up her options, to keep going into whatever that was or return the way she had come.

As she studied the darkness ahead she heard a hiss from behind. Turning she was caught in the shoulder by a snarling mass of fur and teeth. They both rolled into the corridor, a great mess of claws teeth and cold steel fighting and tearing. She fought hard for it seamed hours with the wild shape that had managed to stalk her, twisting and writhing, finally she manged to fling the creature into the wall - with a gut wrenching crunch she drove her Kamas through it's skull.

Her lungs screamed and she stood blood pumping out of the dozens of gashes over her limbs and face, a bite the size of a fist on her right arm already festered and weeping. The stench of death full in her nostrils, she turned to see a five pairs of eyes in the darkness, glowing and feirce.

She turned and ran towards the smell of death, only to come to a dead end littered with bones and carcasses in various states of decay. The eyes had followed her but still they kept their distance, she turned to face them. Crouching ready to fling herself at any or all of them, but all she heard was a low hiss form one of the animals and they all turned at once, leaving her in complete darkness.

For a time she stood there, stunned and bleeding, puzzling over what had just happened. Half dazed from loss of blood and the battle she started to walk back down the corridor, not knowing or caring where it took her. for days she stumbled around in the dark, without direction or purpose. For some reason her wounds didnt seem to bother her, she hardly seemed to notice and they healed themselves leaving barely a scar. Nor did she notice the darkness reseeding or fact that she could hear better than ever before.

She stumbled onward oblivious to the changes that were racking her body...

An Awakening

She stirred from her slumber in the dark, stretching feeling the seasons of sleep falling off her ever regenerating body. As she let her senses bring to her seeds of her surroundings, noting the growth in the great stalactites that had stretched down toward her since she had last given them glance. Her location coming back to her and with it the sorrow that had brought her to this place. Fresh tears wet the fur on her cheeks, and a awful feline cry swepped through the underdark.

Hunger! She swelled with it, body longing for blood. She stood, a gangly mass of fur and claws somehow given grace, she now moved to hunt. As she emerged into the Valley of Darkness, pausing to adjust to the burning light of the sun. As she struggled with temporary blindness, the air seemed to simmer in front of her, blurring and distorting her vision. She blinked and rubbed at her eyes, only to have them widen as a great hulking Abyssal fiend materialized before her, striking out to rend her flesh.

As the fiend swung towards her with wicked claws she easily avoided she stuck back ripping open a 2 foot wound in its chest. The fiend roared, revealing the huge teeth in it's massive ugly head. As she maneuvered to draw more blood, she saw 3 more twisted beings materialising out of the air. Instinct taking over, she pounced, first slicing open the first hulking demons neck, her remaining three claws seeking targets. She fought on savagely rending flesh and bone with claws now 10 inches long.

Finally she stood panting over the corpses of 9 twisted demon kind. Her body screaming from the exertion. It now returned to her, her original purpose for venturing into the light. HUNGER! The rich taint of the blood of the fiends flooding her senses overwhelming her, she gorged on the blood of the fallen, draining their bodies to their tainted core.

Once again change racked her body, and again she was oblivious.

Hunger!

As time went on Murrpau became distant, paranoid. Watching from the shadows, Hiding from all. She no longer slept and her power was growing. She slaughtered countless Scourge feeding on their blood. Hunting for hours each day, the hunger inside of her was rising; soon it was all she thought about.

Murrpau hunted alone. It was all she knew. She sensed within the monastery located on islands surrounding Misty Isle. She slaughtered hundreds of Scourge, chasing down the Scourge Leader, entering the sewer aqueducts below and painting the monastery with their blood. Murrpau feasted mercilessly. Finally, she faced down the Scourge Leader dispatching him and his cronies...

Murrpau suddenly looked around, she could hear a beating heart but the source eluded her. But as she gorged on the ever-flowing blood of her enemies so did the beating in her ears.

Elusion

After deciphering the control mechanism to Horseshoe Clay, Murrpau slew hundreds, lizardfolk, undead, scourge, all fell to her insatiable appetite. In the caverns, she discovered a clue to the Scourge Leaders location, through a portal. not long after dispatching some troublesome scourge, she discovered a portal atop of some ruins. Could this be it? The heartbeat was like a drum in her head.

This new area was like nothing she had seen or heard of before. Cautiously she made her way through the area, dispatching the Scourge Elite with assassin-like precision. As she moved through the room she was on the lookout for something that resembled a leader, none of the normal scourge rabble could command an area such as this, Alas as she slew the last Elite Abishai she was left with the heartbeat, beating on constant and foreboding.
