Darn, I was afraid that was the case. Guess we'll just live without Instagib for now if it messes things up for the other modes. Pity there's no way to add mutators in the map vote settings but we can always add other modes like Assault down the track if we exhaust the DM, TDM and CTF experience. There's more than enough atm.

Just tested on my end and everything is working A OK.
Mearehear wrote:I'll look into UTComp, but ultimately I think it isn't really needed and my goal is to keep this as simple and vanilla as possible. I'll also start looking at adding some of those custom maps to the list over the weekend when I get a chance, but again in the goal of keeping this as simple/vanilla as possible it will be just a handful of the "best picks" that people might want of those non-default maps.
Agree. Whilst UTComp is only a very small download in game, it can be overwhelming once that enhanced HUD loads up.

Slimming down to a "Best Picks" also a good idea... guess we'll need at least a month or two of solid play before we get an idea of which maps the group likes/hates.

RE custom maps, I won't be touching my dropbox link with all the classic remake of UT99 maps anytime soon (I use OneDrive for my cloud storage) so anyone who feels like testing some out, go for it.

Personal favourites of mine from that folder:

- CTF-HallOfGiants
- DM-Fractal (yeah, I like my circular arena maps)
- DM-TheLongestYard (I like space maps too)
- DM-SpaceNoxx (It's a circular arena, space map so gets double thumbs up   )

It's okay now, Instagib is back as a voting option! I just had to define "none" for the other modes so that Instagib didn't persist. I have also made it Zoom Instagib, so that alternate fire gives you zoom. I'm going to try and enable Instagib voting options for DM and TDM as well. I'll also get these maps sorted out tonight hopefully.

Also, Phobos2 is a must for DM/TDM!

EDIT:
Okay, we now have the following vote options enabled.
- CTF
- DM
- TDM
- InstaGib CTF
- InstaGib DM
- InstaGib TDM

Didn't realize you were in there when I vote changed stuff then! Is chat showing up in game? I sent a couple of messages, but you didn't seem to see them. Maybe I have it set to team chat only? I'll have to check that.

And a question. Do people prefer the sniper rifle or lightning gun?

Yeah, sorry mate, the chat messages don't seem to stick out for me for some stupid reason. They may have popped up but I was probably too focused on the game.

The Instagib modes seem to work pretty well and I like the zoom instagib... makes sniping doable.

I have no real preference for sniper rifle or lightning gun. I just let the map decide for me. I think FaceClassic sticks to sniper rifles to feel more traditional but I'm happy to have lightning guns pop up on other maps that were designed with lightning guns in mind. I usually stick to rocket launchers and flak cannons anyway.

There's a few I believe and I'm sure at the time they came out, they were a big improvement but from what I can tell from the various youtube vids is that the improvements is quite minimal by todays standards. I think graphical quality is more dependent on the map and amount of detail the mapper put in. Nothing will get UT2004 close to UT3 levels of graphics and even that's starting to look a little dated in some areas.

BTW, I've added a dual assault rifle mutator to my dropbox folder. As the name suggests, you start off with dual assault rifles from the get go which to me balances out the starter weapon with the other guns a bit better so if you spawn in front of an opponent who's waiving around a flak cannon, you at least stand half a chance.

I've added a few more files to my dropbox folder that adds a nice Halo spin to the game for VCTF (which comes with no maps for the mode in the vanilla package anyway).

I had a VCTF version of BloodGulch in the folder before and now have the Timberland and Infinity maps for VCTF there too. Interestingly, these two maps come with additional files that add some of the Halo vehicles into the game. These come natively coded into the Infinity and Timberland maps but you'll have to use the AllVehicleArena mutator to switch around vehicles for the BloodGulch map. You can get the Warthog, Rocket Warthog, Ghost, and Banshee in the game now. No Scorpion Tank or Wraith though which is a shame but UT2004's Ion Tank is a decent substitute.

Also included is a mutator called Halo Shield which lets you start with shields which can regenerate like in Halo.

Thursday sounds good to me. Not sure on availability on Friday.

Also, I may have some people on the Diablo 3 forums who will join in... in which case, future patch Tuesdays would work well.

Yeah, gotta love instagib CTF especially on facing worlds... 10min of shooting back and forths and no one scoring despite some close calls getting the flag out of the enemy base. Need to try it with an all human 5v5 sometime.
