It looks great and something I'd be very interested in, but until I know they're not going to charge for new maps and champions (beyond like, an expansion every 2 years say?) I'm going to hold off getting too excited.

Yeah from what I've heard they aren't even sure yet. I'd be more than happy to pay for the game, then get expansions, but if they are going to add paid heroes they need to make the game free to play right off the bat.

Charging for heroes would be a mistake, I think. Charging for maps is just outright stupidity if you actually want the game to have any longevity.

Wouldn't put it past them to charge for the game, then to charge for skins though... at the very least there'll be unique skins that require you to buy CE's of their other games etc.

Which isn't too bad... but lordy, wouldn't it be nice to buy a game that contained *everything* just once these days? :P

They don't even have any plans to add new heroes.

I was expecting this to emulate Heroes of the Storm and Team Fortress 2 and be free with buyables ingame. Not sure I want to fork over $60 for it just yet, really want to give it a try first.

I'm looking forward to this too (after 5,200 hours of TF2).

TBH if the choice is between TF2's business model and DLCs, I'd choose DLCs.

It's despicable that Valve tricks players into gambling with crates & keys. I know most of you would be well aware of what you're doing when opening a crate but there are a lot of others who are tricked into thinking they "won" an Unusual in the same way that people addicted to pokies think they "win".

At least with the DLCs it's honest - you get what you pay for, nothing more, nothing less.

The only concern then is if it's Pay For Heroes that the Heroes are essentially sidegrades so that it isn't pay2win.

What you get is a fractured, dead community. If I'm going to drop money on a multiplayer game, I'd prefer it to be something people are still actually playing in 12-18 months. That's the main reason I didn't buy Titanfall (which I thought was otherwise a pretty good game), and sure enough barely anybody plays it anymore.

Ah, I don't see them doing DLC maps coz like you said it fractures the player base. I was thinking that they'd just do DLC Heroes.

And I'm assuming they'll be selling cosmetics.

Has any one played it? I know they are doing a beta test this weekend, but I haven't been invited.

I've been watching some old Quake pros playing it on Twitch. It looks really great, especially the rocket launcher and jetpack character, Pharah. I'm keen for it to launch. It'll be fun if you're at least a bit competitive about it and have a regular crew to practice with.

Even in the random groups I get in there's some really good teamwork. There's voice chat in game and so far on the beta people are using it properly, and not just being idiots.

2 patches in the last 24 hours, one very large, one not very large. Still having fun. They've made some changes to loads of things, from UI tweaks, to more character costumes, and slight tweaks to some maps.

It's fun! Nice mix of TF2 and DotA or League.

Desperately needs Au servers though

So I may have seen my first cheat on the Overwatch beta. Guy was 1 shotting me across the map through walls (many walls, lol). Other people were complaining about the same thing from the same guy. It's a shame that I wasn't recording, I stopped recording gameplay a while back.

It will be interesting to see how Blizzard handles cheats compared to Dice, being that it will be cheating on their servers.
