Fortnite

Just starting a thread for Epic's upcoming sandbox/fort building game Fortnite!
Some folks claim it's vapourware but I can guarantee it most certainly is not! It's been in in Alpha for quite sometime now and I can quite happily say, in my opinion, it's pretty damn good!
Can't say anymore/post pics as all alpha testers are currently under an NDA so I'm giving two lucky people a chance to check it out for themselves and see if my high opinion of the game is on point. There is a possibility of giving out a couple more keys in addition to those two!

First two (maybe four) people to make me laugh with a reason why they should have a key get the swag! :violin:
(keys for Australian residents/player attack regulars only/64 bit Win7 or above OS required)) :P

It might as well be vapourware for how long it's taking! :(
Was hoping this thread was being made because there was finally something new to gawk at. Back to waiting, I suppose!

I got nothing for ya... I was raised to not do things I wouldn't want done to myself. And that's why anal sex is off the agenda.

Aww yeah, pizza!

Sad the NDA is still in effect through to July 20. Am planning on picking it up for random shenanigans. :D

Yeah, out of all the upcoming games, this one does look quite fun.

But my steam pile of shame is quite large now and needs tending to :-(

Can't say much due to NDA but I can say it's one of my favourite games which I keep going back to for the last couple of years.

Well I grabbed the standard pack to jump into... now to wait until I am home, and hope that they have their servers running again.

Yeah, quite a few server issues atm. The Epic devs have been working like crazy to ramp up enough servers to keep up with the demand.

Some tips from an alpha player to keen Fortnite players on these forums:

Always smash garden gnomes when you see them. They occasionally drop Active Power Cells which are rare'ish and you'll need them as you progress in the game.

Check for underground areas underneath graveyard buildings. If such an area exists, in your map, there's a good chance a high level chest is hidden within.
Also check any tall clock towers you see for chests too.

Level up your stun and launcher traps over other traps. These two trap types are far more effective in the higher difficulty areas of the game.

There's a secret cave only accessible from the cliff face edge of the map...so you'll need to build down to it. There's a good chance you'll find a chest within. When you first find it take note of the landscape above the cave so you can identify it in future maps. The cave only spawns with that particular map segment.

Check everywhere for chests! I find so many chests. Badly need some more inventory space because I keep packing it full of stuff.

Also, once you're out of the basic tutorial missions, check your Quests page from the main menu to find Daily and Challenge quests, can get lots of useful rewards from those.

I think I got through the tutorial missions... as I ended up in a game with other randoms accidentally...
Having fun so far though, and slowly working out what I am doing and what I should be building.
Have now changed my group status to friends only...

Also for anyone who wants to group up... what are peoples Epic Games accounts?
My display name is MiniSanders (I think... )

Fortnite's one I don't mind grouping with randoms, at least at lower levels. Probably because it's co-op so people don't get incredibly angry when things go wrong. Not that they do very often!

Word of advice...friend good players as you'll need help in the harder stages of the game!

Been playing with my brother, niece and nephew. So it has been good to have a full group most of the time.
I have almost completed page 9 of the first area, so almost made it to the second area.

I would love it if Epic kept tabs on how much I have played it... would love to see the hours I have put into it so far.

Edit: Also decided to build a pyramid over one of my defense areas...

Since I had to rebuild my Plankerton Storm Shield I also went with the pyramid craze.

The rest of my defenses are... not so good. Thus I've not tried the fifth defense quest yet.

The daily llama is a ranged weapons one at last! I got one and didn't get anything particularly exciting out of it. :(

That Yellow jumpsuit is amazing!
I'm hoping I can get to the second area before this weekend... very hopeful I can get the gaming time I need over the next few nights though

That's my Outlander. Was playing her late last night while my soldier was off on an expedition.

Was trying to gather up some more materials and XP and whatnot. It's died on the loot chest collection page. Don't know if I'll still get my loots! :(
[Edit] Boo, it changed to a level 1 loot chest on reload. Oh well.

Made it to Canny Valley, woohoo!

Don't have anywhere near enough metal to build a decent defense of the Storm Shield so I'll have to go lurk in Plankertone a while longer, but still. :D

Woo, made it to the second area (Plankerton?) and have done the first 2 SSD's
Levels are starting to get harder, and having a full group makes a huge difference, even over 3 of us in the group.

Still having fun though, and slowly grinding my way through.
