Going to be scoffing down spaghetti for the next two days... what I get for overcooking again.

On the bright side, the icky bits of compressed dirt and dust that keeps falling off the bottom of my PC chair's wheels and consequently gets onto my shoes and drops off around the rest of the house should be a thing of the past... used a few wet paper towels to clean that film of ickiness off all the wheels.

Apparently you need the Creator's update or later of Win 10... otherwise it has a habit of blue screening...

Whoever thought it was a good idea to include selection criteria for a job like "Personal Ownership: Holds themselves and others accountable in a respectful way to ensure quality of work output." needs to go and die in a fire. A big one.

Some days I feel HR should be a field people can only work in once they do a 10yr stint in a non-support function role. Might improve how realistic and implementable HR policies and ideas are for certain organisations.

Hope you come up with a good example to answer it. They're never easy things to do.

Already had creators when I got my Ryzen 1700x. Not had any issues with windows and I didn't even bother to clean install.

Not had an issue. Killer CPU handles everything I throw at it thus far... ( I also run a few vms almost 24/7 )
Noticeable boost from my i5 2500k.

Went to cook some quinoa porridge... all out of quinoa flakes :-(

Guess I'm having left overs for breakfast.

The annoying part was that I was in woolies this arvo, passing time as the next train was 27min away... could have bought some then.

Microsoft and Intel have agreed that future processors will only support Win 10...

And the most recent AMD CPUs have "unsupported features" so they won't be getting updates on older OSes

MS REALLY want you to move to Win 10

Queens Birthday public holiday here in QLD.

And I'd thumbs up Disco if we had that feature.

That's my ultimate goal for work-life balance. Probably a bit too young to realise that just yet though.

Was it Sweden that decided to switch to a 3 day weekend?

Something like this would need a change in workplace culture so staff achieve as much productivity in 4 days as they do in 5... a combination of slightly longer days, less yapping at work, and having work planned out well would do it but I doubt most workplaces would ever achieve this.

At least for the work I do, I think 4 days / week or (6h per day) would actually lead to productivity gains.

They found this during the industrial revolution - when staff could only work a certain number of hours, productivity went up and accidents decreased. The reason is that when people are fresh, they are more focused on the task at hand and less likely to make mistakes.

The other reason to support such times is that no-one really needs to do the time these days. Realistically-speaking, most of what we do is work for the sake of work. At its most pernicious, we force people to work long hours for barely enough to survive. But that's really a way to keep the lower classes from being too idle. We have a 6% unemployment rate and a large body of the workforce "underemployed". Meanwhile automation and computing is changing what people need to do for work to be done.

Let's face it, societally we could have a more idle existence. There's just not the political will to do it.

I've read that the amount of Codeine in Neurofen Plus isn't enough to have a real effect in a pain management sense, but is enough to have an addictive effect. I use just the normal Neurofen and it works perfectly for hangover purposes

I will miss not being able to go to the chemist and get Mercyndol when my back is bad though :x

Really it all comes down to how much pain you are in, and how often you take pain killers.
The more you take any pain killer the less it does as your body becomes used to it.

For me panadol or neurofen works fine.

I find ibuprofen works well for muscle soreness, paracetamol for fever, and aspirin for headaches. It may be a placebo effect for two of the three, but paracetamol does lower my core temperature and makes me feel a little less awful when I have man flu.

the health report with norman swan has had a few episodes about codeine, that suggests there isnt a single scientific study that can say its beneficial.

Dunno who Norman Swan is, but can tell you as someone who generally doesn't take a lot of painkillers, Nurofen Plus made the world of difference above and beyond anything else (except Endone) when I had my last gout attack.

The problem I have with this is that it's not aimed at preventing people from using a packet a week, it's aimed as the people taking 50 tablets a day who are just going to move onto something else to get their buzz or whatever they get out of it somewhere else. The Government is probably hoping they'll switch to alcohol instead so they can get some tax cash out of it.
