Cobra Kai (original Karate Kid sequel series)

Post by Mugsy » 05 Aug 2017, 13:43

This sounds cool. Better than a kick to the face ;)
Original “The Karate Kid” stars Ralph Macchio and William Zabka are reuniting on “Cobra Kai,” a sequel series to the classic films being developed for YouTube Red.

The ten-episode, half-hour series is set thirty years after the events of the 1984 film. A down-and-out Johnny Lawrence (Zabka) seeks redemption by reopening the Cobra Kai karate dojo.

This reignites his rivalry with the successful Daniel LaRusso (Macchio), who has been struggling to maintain a life balance without the guidance of his late mentor Mr. Miyagi.

“Hot Tub Time Machine” scribe Josh Heald and “Harold & Kumar” creators Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg will pen and executive produce the series which is being made by Sony Pictures Television Studios and Overbrook Entertainment.

Hurwitz and Schlossberg will direct much of the series while James Lassiter and Caleeb Pinkett will also executive produce.

Yeah, it's a Youtube Red exclusive which doesn't give me much hope.

Would prefer to see this...

I got nothing for ya... I was raised to not do things I wouldn't want done to myself. And that's why anal sex is off the agenda.

Just watched the whole season and it was really bloody good. You could see what was going to happen early on and it took a little while to get going but once it did it was actually kind of amazing to see the role reversal play out.

During one scene where Johnny Lawrence explains his version of events from the original movie to one of his students, it really makes you remember that for every story, there is another version. I actually feel like watching the original again but to take Barney Stinsons view (sadly there wasn't even a cameo from NPH in this :( ) where Daniel-son is the villain and Johnny is the victim... would certainly make you think twice about the end result.

The biggest issue with how the show played out was that if only they all learnt to communicate with each other, things would have been so much different.

I'm glad the way the season ended, but didn't like the way they again started to twist things around. Anyway, if it gets a second season it should be really interesting and fun. Image

I enjoyed the hell out of this, had a real 80's throwback vibe to it and I wasn't expecting it to be good at all, I for one, didn't see anything coming and just enjoyed it

Up to episode 4. Really enjoying the series.
Loved the bit when the daughter uses karate to put the arsehole boyfriend in his place at the movies.

Except for the high school bitch... I don't think she wanted to listen to anyone.

But yeah, just when you think they've almost learnt to understand each other, it all goes to shits again for stupid reasons.
