Survivor Series (WWE)
So, This year's WWE Survivor Series is going to be the first interesting ppv since Wrestlemania. Roman Reigns is looking like the one who will take out the Tourney for the vacant WWE Heavyweight Championship. This is interesting because in 1998, they ALSO ran a tournament for the title, which a direct relative of Roman's won, then turned Heel, becoming one of the maybe three pro wrestlers you could name if you weren't a fan... The Rock.
The event will happen around 2 on monday. I for one am SUPER excited to see the WWE maybe inject something like a real heel into their roster again

It's a long shot but I'd like to see Ambrose get it! I like this tournament format 2 weeks out that they are doing due to the injury, fun stuff

Re: Survivor Series (WWE)
I'm still too heart broken about Seth Rollins to be excited for SS.
If Roman does get it I hope they give him a chance to be himself, the promos he was doing before Wrestlemania this year were cringe worthy and apparently all written for him by Vince. He can be really entertaining but that stuff just seemed so forced and made him boring.
Looking forward to Taker Kane vs Wyatts
I'm so behind on my NXT I should catch up on that this weekend.

As for WWE, I haven't watched it in years since a little bit after the Attitude Era. Started watching it about 2 months before this months Wrestlemania again

Re: Survivor Series (WWE)
Just like the Undertaker or WCWs hiring practices in the late 90s I'm bringing the old thread back to life as we start the road to Wrestlemania
Royal Rumble this Monday:
The New Day vs The Usos for the Tag Team Championship
Charlotte vs Becky Lynch for the Divas Championship
Alberto Del Rio vs Kalisto for the US championship
Dean Ambrose vs Kevin Owens for the Intercontinental Championship
and the 2016 Royal Rumble Match for the 2nd time ever in its history will be for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship with current champion Roman Reigns entering at number 1 to face 29 other wrestlers.
Its going to be a good show but I think for the first time ever the Royal Rumble isn't the match I'm looking forward to the most. In face looking at that card it might be my last, New Day, Becky Lynch, Kalisto, Ambrose and Owens are all people that I'm massive fans of at the moment.

Re: Survivor Series (WWE)
I haven't heard of any of the wrestlers mentioned in this thread, it's funny how quickly the whole scene changes - or maybe not, I haven't watched it in probably 10-15 years.
I should have a look in at it, but I'm not sure any of the new guys could live up to my childhood memories of my old favourites.

Re: Survivor Series (WWE)
Yeah it would probably be a lot different, I think the only guys still around from back then would be Jericho, Kane, Big show, Triple H and Undertaker sometimes.... Oh and Ric Flair still shows up because his daughter is the current womens champ.
Now is probably the right time to check it out again because its the start of Wrestlemania buildup so all the stories are pretty much just starting for their big matches at Mania. WWE Network has a free 1 month trial thing going on at the moment, they don't have the new Raws or Smackdowns but they have all the PPVs including Mondays Royal Rumble and all the stuff back from when you would have watched including WCW and ECW stuff, also NXT which is a fantastic show they do for the new recruits before they move up to the main shows.

Re: Survivor Series (WWE)
I might have a look, I'd seen some WWE thing on the PS4 and had no idea what it was, so maybe it's the WWE Network? Either way the Smackdown/Raw episodes are easily obtainable, although I was always a Raw fan over Smackdown.
I bet JR and Lawler have moved on too, they'd be old as hell now

Re: Survivor Series (WWE)
JR is long gone from the company, he's done some english commentary for New Japan Pro Wrestling.
Lawler is still invovled, he had a real heart attack during a live broadcast a couple of years ago, they didn't show it on TV but the commentary went dead silent and you could see the crowd weren't watching the match they were all looking towards the commentary table, after they got him clear of the ring and the match finished Cole came on looking really shaken and upset explained what happened and said there would be no commentary for the rest of the show. He came back a few weeks later but eventually they moved him over to Smackdown, he just isn't as good as he used to be and with Smackdown being pre-recorded they can have him redo his lines
WWE being WWE gave the heart attack its own video package after it happened.

I really need to get up to speed on Lucha Underground. Its already been signed on for season 3 which is awesome.
I also wish New Japan would get an English version of their streaming site going because there is meant to be some great stuff going there.

No kidding, that's pretty crazy considering at one point not long ago season 2 was looking questionable.

Re: Survivor Series (WWE)
There was a heap of buzz about it on most of the wrestling related forums/news sites I visit.
Meanwhile in WWE: Alberto Del Rio joins the incredibly long list of injured superstars which includes Sin Cara version 2, leaving Kalisto as their ownly Mexican superstar, but its all good cause he is awesome, its just a shame they wouldn't give Rey Mysterio 1 last run to do a passing of the torch sort of thing.
Still I wouldn't be surprised if Triple H was watching LU figuring out who they want to try and poach, They've already got an audience in both the Mexican and American markets and they've worked with some WWE guys so they will probably work out better than Sin Cara version 1 did.

Re: Survivor Series (WWE)
Didn't get to do my big wrestlemania write-up because I have been sporadically watching the wrestlemania weekend events whenever I get a chance
Chyna has just passed away at 46 years of age. Wonder how WWE will handle it if they even mention it at all. Apart from the pornos she's done. Including a WWE themed one she's also had a lot of issues with drugs and said some horrible shit about higher ups at WWE.

Re: Survivor Series (WWE)
Will Osprey vs Ricochet (Prince Puma in Lucha Underground) from New Japan Pro Wrestling has been causing a bit of a stir online, some people love the match, some are upset about how overly rehearsed it was, New Japan did the smartest thing even and put the whole match on youtube from free to try and promote their version of the WWE Network.
I enjoyed the match although that opening sequence that was basically a gymnastics recital was a bit silly.
Also interesting to watch how different Japanese crowds are compared to WWE crowds.

The best thing to happen in the world of pro wrestling recently has been the Hardys work in TNA

Now he's sticking around for the Royal Rumble, then possibly doing Goldberg vs Lesnar 3 at Mania next year.
